The small village, once the seaport of Siciliana, for many centuries it was an important trading center: in Roman-Punic Age it was called Erbesso, under the guidance of Arab Tirsat 'Abbad and Rahl Bekit, around the sixteenth century. Cala Cortina and later simply Loader Siculiana, remaining active until the end of 1800.
