THE MUSEUM OF THE FARMING CIVILISATION
The Ethno-Anthropological Museum of the Farming Civilisation (Museo etnoantropologico della Civiltà Contadina) was established in 1991 and is managed by the Istituto Comprensivo Ezio Contino. The Museum is divided into three sections: the farmer’s world, the household, and the craftsman’s life. It displays many tools related to the traditional works, such as a press for honey, wooden ploughs, the frasca, the scythes, the iron harrow, “sacchine” and “vertuli”. But the most important piece of the Museum is the astounding Sicilian chariot, engraved and hand-painted, donated by Briocci, a well-off citizen of Montallegro.
